Amazon Studios today gave us the first teaser trailer for The Report starring Adam Driver. The Report first premiered at Sundance to overwhelmingly positive reviews and will hit the screen again at TIFF this September.

The Report is a riveting thriller based on actual events. Idealistic staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) to lead an investigation of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, which was created in the aftermath of 9/11. Jones’ relentless pursuit of the truth leads to explosive findings that uncover the lengths to which the nation’s top intelligence agency went to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a brutal secret from the American public.

There seems to be a bit of the vibe we got in The Post in this trailer, but maybe a bit edgier. Add in CIA detention and high stakes politics and this seems like a surefire hit on streaming for Amazon after it hits theaters for two weeks.

Nobody in the world is having a better couple of years than Driver. From Star Wars and Blackkklansman and Noah Baumbach’s upcoming Marriage Story, the guy can’t lose. I’m pretty excited and think it could give Adam Driver a second shot at an Oscar this year.
